That rings a bell now you mention it - wasn't it against Julian Dicks, who had just flattened Joey a few moments before?"boris" wrote:There was one that Mickey Lewis made, against Westam I think, for which he received a standing ovation. Can't remember the player who he kicked into the Osler Road, though.

If we had videos of them, I suspect there would be a shed load of Briggsy tackles that would win hands down."DLT" wrote:Anyone beat Briggs on Rougverie.

I do seem to recall Mick Tait flattening Micky Droy at Stamford Bridge - not sure whether it could be classed as a tackle though.

I still sometimes think I dreamt this, but my favourite tackle (NB - not foul) is as follows:
Wolves were all over us at the Manor, I think it was this game. Steve Bull latched onto a through ball and ran into the box in front of the London Road. He appeared to be clean through on our keeper, and was bound to score. Suddenly, appearing from nowhere and making an impeccably-timed challenge was...
... Garry Smart.
I kid you not. Having survived the early onslaught, we went on to win 1-0.
