No, that is the best ever tackle by an Oxford player. Only other one I can remember is David Smith on Beauchamp when he played for the enemy.

There was one that Mickey Lewis made, against Westam I think, for which he received a standing ovation. Can't remember the player who he kicked into the Osler Road, though.

That rings a bell now you mention it - wasn't it against Julian Dicks, who had just flattened Joey a few moments before?

Talking of OslerRoad.

Can you remember Kenny Wharton doing the same to Chicken George straight from the kickoff in the second half. George had murdered him going downthe hill and Arthur Cox had clearly informed Wharton what was expected.

If we had videos of them, I suspect there would be a shed load of Briggsy tackles that would win hands down.

Chopper Harris, Bites yer legs Norm, Tommy Smith, ......... anyone sorry to see the back of their ilk? Not me.

I do seem to recall Mick Tait flattening Micky Droy at Stamford Bridge - not sure whether it could be classed as a tackle though.

The perfectly legitimate one that Kevin Francis made, but Chelsea got a late penalty as a result of a crap refereeing decision and escaped from The Manor with a draw.

I still sometimes think I dreamt this, but my favourite tackle (NB - not foul) is as follows:

Wolves were all over us at the Manor, I think it was this game. Steve Bull latched onto a through ball and ran into the box in front of the London Road. He appeared to be clean through on our keeper, and was bound to score. Suddenly, appearing from nowhere and making an impeccably-timed challenge was...

... Garry Smart.

I kid you not. Having survived the early onslaught, we went on to win 1-0.

Mention of Peter Fear in another thread reminded me of an evil tackle he put in on a Slumdon player in front of the bBeech Road shelf - the game when Murphy was sent off I believe.
