Yes, I saw that in the local paper as well. It was during his believable phase at Oxford United.

What we do know is that Nick Merry was very convincing (and appears still to be so). A shame that OxVox didn’t do a bit more ‘due diligence’ on him rather than falling for the ‘anyone but Kassam’ line peddled at the time by the now invisible former (non-OxVox) ringleaders of that campaign. How on earth did we not know that Ian Lenagan was the real owner when the takeover happened? Even the BBC were fooled. Then we had the Mr. Loophole (he must have cost a bit to employ) drink driving charge in the early hours of August 24 2007 after he drove a black Bentley away from a lap-dancing bar in Banbury having used our official OUFC football website to promote his case of innocence.

It's all smoke and mirrors and it would be nice if we could be given a bit more public clarity at times, but I won't hold my breath on that one.
I would at least say they are educated guesses from someone who knows how to read a set of accounts, and how they should be prepared to start with. To me it is clear there are surely a few mistakes along the line, but then the question is whose smoke and mirrors you distrust least. Still, at least Companies House should be a bit more reliable than any old independent website or Wikipedia for instance.

Been here many times before but in those highly charged times of early 2006, Beezlebub himself would have been welcomed as an alternative owner to Firoz.

Believe me Slappy, Merry put no more money into the club than the average season ticket holder does over a lifetime supporting OUFC. Even his fabled bag of emeralds belonged to someone else.

Sure, Oxvox - and all the other supporters - and all the press - (and to be honest I didn't hear too many complaints from you at the time Snaky Boy....), might have been conned by the sockless maestro.

But I'd say the biggest dupe of all was I Lenagan Esq. Thank goodness for him ... and us that Kelvin Thomas was around.
