Indeed. Has anyone got any sensible ideas why all three group games in the FL Trophy in August 1982 were played away from home? Or is the rageonline database wrong(!)?"OUFC4eva" wrote:Inspector Morse was first aired on our TV screens in 1987 !
I'm mildly intrigued by this now.

Anyway, I've checked and the three games were definitely all away from home, but I've been unable to ascertain why. Possibly just a quirk of the draw. Before the games United had a home friendly against Coventry (2-2) so there was nothing wrong with the Manor.

I wildly inaccurate statement if ever I read one. If we are honest, even though I'm sure we all loved the place, there really was quite a lot wrong with the Manor."boris" wrote: Before the games United had a home friendly against Coventry (2-2) so there was nothing wrong with the Manor.
As for the three away games could it be that dear departed Captain Bob had messed up the pitch by landing his helicopter on it and pissing in the centre circle? (both allegedly did happen).
