Wasn't Peter Hucker Man of the Match in the 1982 Cup Final?
Indeed he was and he's on my list.

I have him as a reserve - for no other reason than I thought of him later than the others.

And I have a question? Did Brian Talbot ever register as a player whilst he was manager? It is a common custom amongst lower league teams for emergency purposes.

He certainly won the cup with Ipswich.

And I suppose the same could be said about Graham Rix - Arsenal.

Neither of them are on my list.

Would Dean Saunders be the other Liverpool player?

Did Jimmy Carter ever play for Arse in a cup final?

Other names that spring to mind are Steve Perryman, Colin Todd, David Bardsley(?), John Byrne, and Tommy Caton (who played in the same final as Aleksic, but for the losing team).

OMG - if they are all right we will have enough for two teams. I'm sure A-Ro will let us know.

Meanwhile - still treating this as a pub-quiz - I'm 95% certain Colin Todd did not play at Wembey in the FA Cup. He was one of the first ones I thought of.

However, in an old program I've come across the name of Eddie Newton in a Chelsea v Man Utd final.

Did he or did he not once play for us?

Yes to Saunders for Liverpool in 92, Perryman Spurs 81 or 82 and Caton for City in 81.

Yes to Lineghan Arsenal 93, Mustoe in 97 for Boro' and Byrne for Sun in 92.

Without checking back I think the only one on my list that hasn't been mentioned is Foster Brighton 93.

Everything I've written needs to be checked as it was all done from the memory of three of us in the pub last Friday night.

If only there was a web site where you could look up this sort of thing.

Indeed. However, in the spirit of the game I was trying to adhere to the quiz rules of my local hostelry i.e. no assistance through electronic apparatus (e.g lap tops, mobile phones or blackberries etc).

Had I had a copy of your book with me I would have been allowed to use that.

I wasn't sure of the answer so I just threw it into the pot for others to consider - normal practice in my quiz team.

So given their crap current form and the fact that they've got Man U next weekend, anyone give us a snowball's chance in hell?

Personally I expect their youth team to come out and thrash us. It's just the sort of thing that happens I'm afraid.
