Mighty Yellow Army 2 - 0 Poppies
Green - both of em
5123 Away - 133
U:E: Just before 3pm Kelvin Thomas rouses the crowd with this Churchillian speach:
"I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our three stand home, to ride out the storm of promotion, and to outlive the menace of play offs, if necessary for weeks, if necessary alone.
At any rate, that is what we are going to try to do. That is the resolve of Chris Wilder’s Squad-every man of them. That is the will of Oxford United and the City.
The 12th Man and the OxVox, linked together in their cause and in their need, will defend to the death their native Yellows, aiding each other like good comrades to the utmost of their strength.
Even though large teams of BSP and many old and famous Sides have fallen or may fall into the grip of climax of the season and all the odious apparatus of Non league Football, we shall not flag or fail.
We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in Deffence,
we shall fight on the eighteen yard and the goal mouth
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Clarke, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight at the fence end,
we shall fight in front of the Oxford Mail ,
we shall fight in the corners and in the centre circle,
we shall fight in the technical area
we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Oxford team or a large part of it were tired and had chronic cramp , then our Squad beyond the pitch, warmed and focussed by Mickey Lewis, would carry on the struggle, until, in the referee's good time, the Yellow army, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the blue square premier title!

Oxford 3-2 Kettering
M Green, Grant (2) - Kelly, Appiah
5,564 (200)
UE - Wilder locks the players in the changing room for an hour before the game to give them a bollocking about how rubbish they are about to play to avoid another 'after the horse has bolted' situation. This results in the players understanding their responsibilities and producing a match winning performance. Or it could just mean Grant hid the key because he doesn't fancy another game in front of a big crowd.
