Hi folks,

just got registered and hope to have some interesting chats in the future. I live in Holland (yes I speak Dutch) and post mainly on the NonLeagueFootballLive forum were I ama moderator and run their Predictions league. Unfortunately it looks like NLFL is going to fold because of financial difficulties which is a shame. Its a friendly site with supporters of many BSP clubs exchanging views, ifo, friendly banter and the occational rave.
Hope to enjoy myself here, I sometimes post on TiU but not all the posters there can be taken seriously. Some good discussions, quick info but also inhabited by some trolls.

Well now you know all about me thats not worth knowing. Hope the door is open for a U's fan since the days of Headington United.

Thanks folks. And Snake, you'll have to wait another 30 odd years before my English returns to something like the old Oxford accent I used to have. Just accept my strange choice of words sometimes, my mixed-up sentence construction and my funny North Sea accent and maybe one day I'll be back to &quotnormal&quot.

Ignore any comments on the English language from Snake - he's Welsh so English is his second language.

Hierbij wil ik een klacht indien over het manier waarop ik was begroet door één persoon nadat ik
heb voorgesteld voor jullie forum.

Deze persoon stelde het niet op prijs dat ik een ietwat gebrekkig gebruik maak van de Engels taal.
Dat gebrek ben ik bewust van en geef ik volledig toe. Na ruim 30 jaar gewoond te hebben in
Nederland, veel moiete gehad met het leren van de Nederlandse taal en weinig contact gehad met
personen wiens moedertaal Engels is, is mijn Engels inderdaad achteruit gegaan. In die periode ben
ik ook in het Nederlands gaan denken!

Door het komst van internet en met name fora, heb ik weer volop contact met Engels-sprekende over
mijn favorite spoort, voetbal. Voor een antal jaren nu heb ik comentaar, feiten, grappen en verbale
gevechten geplaatst op diverse engelse fora. Geen een keer is er commentaar geleverd op mijn taal
gebruik tot ik beslot om ook bij Rage-On aan te melden. Misschien hebben andere gedacht &quotwat
schrijf hij raar&quot maar zelfs de trolls op TiU hebben nooit een opmerking daarover geplaatsd.

Ik vraag mij af of mijn beslissing om bij R-O aan te melden een wijze beslissing was? Is R-O zo
elitair? Ik wacht het af.

Dear lords of Rage-Online, I a complaint wants if concerning way I had been greeted by one person after I your forum have presented. This person did not appreciate it that I ietwat poorly uses of English the language. That lack is I aware of and admits I entirely. After clear 30 years lived in the Netherlands, many moiete to have had with learning the Dutch language and little contact has with persons whose mother language is English, my English indeed reverse has gone. In that period I am also in Dutch going think! By arrival of Internet and, I have particularly forums in abundance contact with English English-English-speaking concerning my favorite go by rail, football. For antal years now I have placed comentaar, facts, joke and verbal fightings on several English forums. None a time present comment has been provided on my language use to I bay destiny also at Rage-On. Perhaps other have thought &quot what write he raar&quot but even the trolls on TiU have never an observation about that geplaatsd. I wonder themselves if my decision was to present a wise decision at r o? Is r o this way elitist? I wait it. *Mijn language are strange but my blood is geel.*

Ah, now I see what the mean by Double dutch.. Smashing people the Dutch, especially love the window displays in certain parts of Amsterdam at night, now that is an idea they should bring to Thame Mally - who needs a new Sainsbury's when you could have all sorts of goodies? BTW have just got back to Crendon from Thame roads are OK but I went round the Esso roundabout sideways. Football? Whats that...?

And perhaps you can understand why they (who are they?) say that Dutch is on of the hardest european languages to learn.

I thought Dutch was the hardest language to learn because everyone in Holland speaks English so no one can be bothered to learn it. That, and the fact that everyone who goes to Holland to learn Dutch ends up getting shitfaced in the coffee shops and are too stoned to bother.

Boris, part one is absolutely correct. Very many Dutch people speak good English and as soon as they know you are English then they want to show off their talent. That makes it very hard to even begin to learn the language.

The second point is of course aimed at short-stay tourists and long-term layabouts. Once again you are correct. But some people who go for a longer stay try a bit harder with their new-found friends from point one.

I came to Holland with a family. My Dutch boss had promised me a course with the nuns in a place called Vucht (pronounced almost as in &quotwell I'm f*cked&quot sproken by a gordie). But there was too much work so no time for courses . He then told me that the best place to learn Dutch was in bed. I said that my English wife wouldn't appreciate that. But he was right! I'm divorced now of course!
