Championship Manager 2010

Post by SmileyMan »

Got it last week. All I can say is, I have a lot of respect for Chris Wilder!

My version of OUFC are sitting mid-table with a decidedly nervous board and an upset bunch of supporters, after a string of 0-0 draws against mediocre opposition. Have recently turned it around a bit though, and I just beat York 1-0 at the HaveABreak...

Well, first season finished. Reached the semis of the FA Trophy, and the second round of the FA Cup (losing to Rotherham, having beaten Exeter in the first round). Could have pipped Luton to the top of the league with a big win on the last day, but could only manage a 1-1 draw. Went to Cambridge in the playoffs and beat them by a goal to nil at their place, but managed to lose 3-1 aet back home.

So a pretty accurate simulation of OUFC! :)

Lessons learned - dont let Beano get injured (he was Conference top scorer with 24 goals, including 2 months out), Alife Potter is a match-winner, and Sam Deering is injury prone (2 goals in 2 games).

Best signing of the year was Matty Young from Harrogate - a really useful utility midfielder. Have tried and failed all year long to get a replacement keeper in ready for Elvis' retirement. Everyone else I signed was good enough to cover for injury but nothing to shout about.

And ... oh yeah! Under my stewardship we made £1.2m profit for the season!

Sensible wife alert – leave hubby engrossed with watching pixels move around a screen and he’ll probably not notice what she’s up to..
