Hi Roo, I know Tony Warne well. He's the chap in the programme a few weeks ago who bought up a load of the seats at the Manor auction. In fact I bought the row of seats containing my season ticket seat off him. I'm seeing him tomorrow. Are you seriously interested in buying some seats? I know he is starting to run low on the number he has left, so if you are interested, PM me with your contact details and I'll pass them on to him tomorrow.

Chaps, can anyone recall the title of a TV drama (I think it was filmed in two episodes, but it might have been more - or fewer) that was filmed in Oxford, including at the FA Cup game v Sunderland in Jan 1992. I can't remember much about it apart from a house in Waltonwell Road being blown up in a gas explosion and some godawful excuses for Oxford (shire, as opposed to Uni) accents from the actors.

Wasn't it something like 'Arthur English' or even 'The secret world of Arthur English'? Might not have been Arthur though. The surname was definitely 'English'. I think.

I thought George Cole was involved, but can't find anything in his filmography that resembles it, so maybe I'm misremembering again.

I would have put it a couple of years earlier than 1992, though I may be wrong.

Ah yes, Eddy English. No wonder I couldn't find anything on Google. Think I had Minder on the brain, for no good reason.

Wasn't it pretty pants? The only scene I recall is after the main character dies, and his family are going through his possessions. His nephew(?) was pissed off only to have been left an extensive collection of OUFC programmes. Ungrateful bastard, I remember thinking!

Talking of TV and OUFC I know there is at least one episode of Morse where Lewis has an Oxford United mug on his desk. I can't think of any episodes that were directly linked to the club though although I think there are more links in the original books.

Any other literary references to OUFC? eg Blood on the Cowley Road is supposed to feature the Kasstad - still haven't got round to reading it.

Also Myles's signature on tiu, and my occasional tiu signature, which both reference the &quotother place&quot.

Well we all know that Thomas Hardy's Christminster was in Oxford, so Jude the Obscure probably refers to Mr Stirling.

I only had the one video clip downloaded and then Sky stopped them being hosted on-line. Never had Sky, so don't know how much of a recurring theme / character it was.

I haven't read it either but certainly will do. Oxford United and the OM stand are very central to the plot according to this review in the OT

On the TV theme, there as a series called &quotAll in the game&quot made in the summer of '93. It was loosely based on Gary Lineker's story and the small club the star came from was filmed at the Manor. I got three days work as an extra on it, getting paid £40 a day, cash in hand.

John Hollins was the football consultant and the star player was Lloyd Owen.
