Stevenage had a player red carded (Murphy)
for absolutely nothing last night. Thankfully this did not end up costing Stevenage but it was an horrendous decision and the referee should be taken to task over this.

Ref Rob Whitton will be embarrassed when he see's the
TV pictures and has to rescind the red card. I hope he does not make it to the FL as a referee. He is out of his depth.

Whitton - who harshly sent off Willmott at Burton, apparently dismissed Murphy, the Stevenage midfielder, because he had a &quotgut feeling&quot that he (Murphy) elbowed Jon Challinor at a corner.

Westley nearly had a coronary. It was a shocker.

There's something about the these non league Refs and the Setanta TV cameras. Can only assume they're more aware of potentially making a mistake and it being spotted, which, judging by their general standard, is laughable.

Wonder what the odds are for being sent off when you're playing a match live on Setanta. Bet it's above the average.

And he also wrongly sent off the Burton player too &amp he gave a corner when it should have been a goal kick in the incident which lead to the sending off. Way, way out of his depth - shocking stuff.

Pity referees are not allowed to look at the TV replays at half time and change their decisions there and then and let the guy come back on for the second half.

You could argue that Cambridge shouldnÔÇÖt even be in the play-offs (as well as Stevenage) being as Burton helped themselves to a 5-0 away win against the scratch team of Weymouth on the 17th March. Had that game been say, a draw, then Cambridge would already be in League II now.

Yup, you, me, &amp Uncle Tom Cobblers could argue but that ain't going to change owt.Cambridge are in the play-offs with a second leg to come and are two goals down, Burton have got promoted but have a crap manager, and OUFC, well, OUFC start a fourth season in a league that has Brian Lee as Chairman.

Agree with Hog here.

At HT they could also go back and look at balls that crossed the line or not and award or disallow first half goals, for example.

Also, even with games that are not televised there are TV crews recording the action, so the video footage would be available to the officials even in our poxy League.

I think it’s important that football doesn’t go the same route that tennis and cricket seem to be going and just leave the decision to the ref and let it stand, be that a crap judgement or not.

Nearly every game if not all at this level has someoine filming them.

Just cos it is not possible to rectify errors in all circs should not be a reason not to rectify any at all.
I can see pressure on the ref being a problem.
