Dorchester 0 Oxford 2 (Guy, Constable). Attendance 950. Away crowd 225.

Unexpected event: Darren Patterson is lifted shoulder high by the players and paraded in front of the away supporters. The celebrations are spoiled by DP receiving a vote of confidence from the Chairman. DP is immediately lifted aloft by the Dorchester players and paraded in front of the home supporters as their next manager.

Oxford run out to the Dies Irae from the the Verdi requiem. Four players are left behind when the coach leaves. This does not feature in the Guardian 21 years later.

UE: You mean apart from Utd winning? Turley scores at the 'right' end, Trainer plays up front with Deering. And Patterson leaves his post by, dunno, midday tomorrow? And to make it even more unexpected ... he doesn't resign!
Just realised this is a bit ambiguous: I mean we lose 0-1 to a Day og

UE1: A herd of wildebeest briefly hold up the penalty shoot out.
UE2: It doesn’t turn out to be the biggest pile of cack in our cackiest season ever.
UE3: It turns out to be the biggest pile of cack in our cackiest season ever.
UE points witheld until such point as it can be determined whether this is our cackiest season ever or not.
Unless of course it goes to penalties and the Wildebeest turn up.

Not that it will of course, as we're now 1-0 down.
