Christ, if he had that low opinion of him but knew the cost of playing him one more time and still picked him I'd say that's a **** up of monumental proportions! I'm not accusing him of picking him just to extend the contract, I'm accusing him of failing to exclude him so he didn't get an extension.
That doesn't follow though Hog.

For that game Patto put out what he felt was his strongest side.

After that game he had other options, and Jeannin didn't get a look in again.

Seems to me like we’re going to miss the ST discount deadline in terms of getting new players signed up. Whether your concerned/panicking about new players or not this is certainly not good business for ST sales in terms of getting the ‘maybes’ to sign up for 23 games.

We’ve not even had the traditional advert from Chris Williams telling us to sign up for the SMS service (which always seems to coincide with a bit of news about to be announced)

Will the ST discount period be extended I wonder?

I really don't know what to think right now.

Reading the news that Joel Legister has signed for Woking, begs me to ask the question:

&quotWhy? Why would anyone want to sign him? He's rubbish. One of the players with the lowest level of talent I have ever seen in an Oxford United shirt.&quot

But then I look at Us. And see DP not making any signings. So, on the one hand I'm thinking:

&quotI'm glad DP isn't signing players like JL.&quot

but on the other hand, I'm thinking:

&quotBollocks. We needs some players. Have we even got a first XI and subs bench to fill yet?&quot

Wow. Imagin what DP must be feeling...!

I don't really buy the link between selling season tickets and new player signings. In the past perhaps when we signed players that people had heard of it may have had an impact but these days I don't think it makes much of a difference to whether or not somebody buys the season ticket. Nearly everybody who has heard of the sort of players we are likely to sign will already be a season ticket holder anyway.

Indeed. This looks promising - a decent partner for murray! Though he has only scored 4 league goals ever, he played 38 games in League one last year for Northampton. I wonder how we persuaded him to drop down - do you think Green rejecting us freed up some cash?

True, but given that we seemed to be failing to flash the cash and attract anyone (until today) I had assumed that was what we were still working to.

True about the fact that we now sign players we’ve never heard much about, but I still maintain there is a link between NO new signings and season ticket sales.

Anyway, we’ve at least got one now, though I can’t image that’s going to generate a queue at the ticket office in the morning.

Oh come on, why would he think that Jeannie would contribute to his &quotstrongest side&quot one week (after months of seeing him play) but then bomb him out the next week? As I said last time, a monumental **** up! Either he didn't know there was a rollover contract based on appearances or he thought he was worth another year. He can't have it both ways .

Never rule out cock-up when considering conspiracy theories, especially at Oxford United.

Good to see that guy at the ticket office has left the club, apparently. He must have cost Us a lot of money over the years, so that’s one squad member of the backroom team I’m not sad to lose. Yes, yes, he was fine if you got to know him, but for first time and non-regular callers he was a nightmare to deal with.

I think you are missing the point Hog.

When Jeannin was picked for his last game (Salisbury?) which gained him another year, Patto felt that Jeannin was the best option available to him for left back. in fact at that time there were very few other options.

By the time fo the next game, we had signed a replacement and Jeannin was told he could leave. That option wasn't available for the previous match, toherwise I have no doubt that the situation of an extended contract would not have arisen.

I repeat, it has nothing to do with contractual liabilities. It has to do with the responsibility of the Manager to pick the best side from the options available.
