Tardif has signed

Post by Hog »

for Basingstoke Town. In play-off contention from Conference South.

&quotHaving allowed back-up 'keeper Jonty Venter to leave the club, Vines has moved to sign former Oxford United number one Chris Tardif.

Tardif has been without a club since leaving Oxford in September, and will take over the goalkeeping duties when Nick Hamann returns to Germany in January.

&quotChris played professionally for Oxford and is a good signing,&quot Vines said. &quotNick will return to Germany because he wants to play full-time, but Chris is more than capable of filling his shoes.&quot

Is Tardif busy or cup-tied for Tuesday night, as Patto sounded worried on RadOx about the keeper position for the replay and didn't confirm that Worrell would start?

God only knows why they should just put me in goal and then we’d be able to concentrate on what is left of this season on the League.

I despair, I really do.

Why would we want to concentrate on the league in this season of all seasons? We're in the very heart of midtable - if there were ever a season where a cup run would be a welcome distraction from mediocrity, this is it.

You won't say that when we're two points off the relegation zone with three games to go.

Apparently Basingstoke are in financial meltdown and having failed to get the contracted players to accept a 20% reduction in wages they have now released 3 non-contracted players including Chris Tardif (purely for financial reasons, not because he's conceding about 3 goals a game!).

In the style of TiU ... he could do a job for us (!). Bench warmer on expenses rather than the salary he had before, and reasonably efficient ... and better than any of the goalkeepers we haven't had on the bench lately!

I've heard he couldn't commit to training at farnborough but has signed instead for Bognor Regis. That's a long way from Bicester village: has he quit there too?

Having left Bognor for Havant || Waterlooville, Tardif has now signed for ... Winchester City. So don't believe everything you read on here! :o
