Re: Wilder Gone

Apart from the obvious confusion caused by a lack of communication from all concerned, I am puzzled by why CW would want to go to Northampton. I presumed that he would only be tempted by a 'higher' club or one nearer to 'home'. If he does move to 6fields then it will be ironic if we get promoted &am...

Re: Behind the scenes changes

Who will replace Rosie on match days? Will he continue doing radio work? I remember when Jon Hammond was the MC on match nights at Manchester Storm ice hockey up here, it made a good night into a special night. When he left, the people who took over could never fill his shoes. Hope the same won't ha...

Re: TBFUTH Awards 2013

How can JP Pittman's goal at Accrington not be included. 'Twas tremendous!

Re: Oxford Cty

Living nearby I went to see Oxford City at Chester earlier this season, mainly hoping to see Cook &amp Basham in action. They played well but were comfortably beaten by the unstoppable home side. Chris Willmott in defence was a tower of strength, and they looked a well organised side. They had I...

Re: Wilder Out?

I like the sound of PNE parting company with Graham Westley (and hopefully their chairman, Peter Ridsdale), but the thought of him coming to Oxford fills me with dread. (I notice that his assistant, though, is John Dreyer)

Re: Down Dale

Thought we looked very confident first half (obviously a post Accrington reaction), but as the game went on anxiety returned, and the ball was given away far too easily, far too often. Rigg was playing too deep 2nd half, and Heslop looked lost on the right. Leven looked too slow, and should have bee...

Re: Kitted out

Who decides what kit we're going to have? Finally we get a home shirt that I like, but the rest... Even Dubes has publicly denounced the banana look with the yellow shorts. It seems so straightforward for home games we play in yellow/blue/blue. In case there is a clash away we have alternative blue/...

Re: Different Teams in Different Sports

First OUFC game was New Year's Day 1972 v Norwich whilst visiting relatives in Abingdon. Went to Old Trafford regularly, and then Nov 74 whilst in Div 2 saw Man U 4-0 OUFC and was hooked on Oxford again! Serious following began Dec 83 away at Wigan's old ground when Trevor Hebberd roamed the pitch w...

Re: Oxford City FC

Being an Oxford Exile in Cheshire I'm looking forward to seeing Oxford City, especially at Chester. Curious to see how many ex-Yellows will be in their squad next season.

Re: Wilder IN

Much as I can't understand the 'hoof the ball up in the air lots of times' tactic, especially as we don't have any tall forwards, I am happy with CW. I feel that many football matches hinge on random acts of luck or misfortune, that managers have little influence on. In particular this season I can ...

Up North the tales and woes of Northwich Victoria continue to amaze. Having been managed by 2 ex-Oxford legends in recent months since they were locked out of their ground (Paul Simpson, then Martin Foyle) they finished runners up to Chester FC, only to be demoted a division instead of entering the ...

Having travelled 160 miles down the M6 &amp M40 with my son for our annual pilgrimage I was left with a very long journey home after a shocking display. None of the outfield players deserve credit. Hall looked like someone who believed all the pre match hype, Leven argued incessantly, nearly eve...

Crewe (&amp Gillingham) may be pecking at our heels, but we may all overtake Cheltenham &amp Southend yet. The latter 2 play each other next week, so a draw there, and us sneaking a win at Accrington, would make the table very interesting. The 3 home games against Southend, Torquay &amp ...

Positive Omens:- Looking back to the 95-96 encounter at the Manor, we beat them 3-0 even though they were 'better than us' at that time. The highlights of recent S*****n victories on TV look fortunate at times, especially the missed penalty decision against Shrewsbury. We seem to raise our game for ...

Before the game I was hoping for a 4-0 thumping, but having struggled to beat D&ampR and Barnet, and knowing that Macc had to stop their rot, and previous Oxford experiences, a draw was inevitable. I agree though that under the law of averages rule we should thump S*****n 3-0. We do tend to rais...
