Re: Slumdon
Nice write up in the Grauniad this morning: https://www.theguardian.com/football/football-league-blog/2016/sep/12/oxford-chris-maguire-fans-favourite-swindon-derby-goals Good write-up but they could have perhaps got the right player in the photo......... Its the Grauniad. You can't expect them to g...
Re: Slumdon
A great win from our 10 men for the first 80 minutes. I say ten men because Thomas contributed zilch. As a lone striker he is way off the pace. I think with Taylor in instead of Thomas, we would undoubtedly have won by more. I was sceptical over the 4-2-3-1 formation before the game, but Thomas apar...

Re: We need wingers!
You could look at it that way..............or you could say we've got a lot of players who are much of a muchness and few have cemented their starting position through playing well. If we had Roofe, Wright and Hylts in the current squad there would be none of this debate, they would be on everyone'...

Re: We need wingers!
I had already posted on the Maguire/formation issue, but I can't see it now. Bloody modern technology! We already effectively play 4-3-1-2 with Sercs playing in the hole ion the last few games. The problem with putting Maguire in the middle is that you then have to move Sercs. Lunny isn't playing we...

Re: We need wingers!
We stole the 3 points, but it has happened to us often enough so I ain't complaining. 0-0 would have been a fair result, with neither side showing much talent, until Johnson and Taylor came on anyway. Taylor must surely now be due a starting place and extended run in the side. I was very disappointe...

A fairly straightforward win this evening, although our defence did have a go at messing things up several times. Chey made a couple of serious errors, one of which led directly to the Exeter second goal. Ruffels frequently getting drawn inwards forcing Maguire to defend as a pseudo left back at tim...

Looks ominous to me: http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/14708152.Fourth_stand_at_Kassam_Stadium_may_not_be_built_in_time_for_Swindon_clash/ That article has all the hallmarks of the club feeding the Mail. I suspect it is the first in a series leading up to "we tried our best but were hampered at...

Re: Bramall Lane
For the first half hour, we were pretty much in control without playing outstanding football. Then Sheffield began to get back into the game. Our goal was well finished and we had plenty of chances to score more. Had we done so, I would have been confident of taking all the points home. We've now ha...

Re: U's v Seagulls
I agree with the earlier posters regarding the back line. On midfield I don't agree that Lunny is coming good whilst Sercs is struggling. I would put them the other way around. For me Sercs is the player winning the ball back, making surging runs with his box to box style and linking up play to the ...

Re: Peterborough
Very even first half. We were slightly the better side in the second half and overall deserved the points (just), but could have had few complaints had the game ended level. Apart from the very obvious and significant increase in quality in League 1 oppositions over League 2, there does seem to be a...

1. Will United win the tie? No 2. Will the tie be decided in normal time? Yes 3. Will United score first? (including penalty shoot-out if game ends 0-0) No 4. Will Taylor start? No 5. Will Eastwood face a penalty during the game? (including extra time but not penalty shoot-out) No 6. Will either si...

Ah Phil "turning circle of an 18 wheel 'un" In comparison, we were more competitive against The Cod than against Brizzle. Competitive in the sense of closing down, tackling etc, not in the sense of being likely to score. Having got back at well past 3am, I'm still in recovery mode! Much ha...

Re: Grizzle Rovers
Good luck with the complete season GY. I managed it a few years ago, was a lot more of a southern based league then. The Wellington could have had the beer tent open in the garden like the priory used to. The wait inside was woeful, but could they have got staff in for basically two 2 hours shifts....
