Re: Where are they now?
I thought the link between Brentford and the late Harry Fearnley related to his performance in the 'famous' FAC4R replay at Griffin Park in 1964. My Dad went, but Mum wouldn't let him take me because I would get back too late, what with school the next day and everything. Reflecting upon my subseque...

Re: I wasn't there Jerome...
I'm not that upset, Slappy - just a bit cynical. At least I got a bit of discussion going !
PS - I think Kompany is a terrific player.

Re: I wasn't there Jerome...
RR has a point - on reflection, I probably shouldn't have exposed the massive chip I have on my shoulder about Premiership Rich Kids.
Beano's ban is nearly over now.
I'll calm down.
Until the next injustice created by some self-important f*ckwitt of a lower-league official rears its head, that is.

Re: I wasn't there Jerome...
I see Vincent Kompany's red card from Sunday has been overturned.
Hats off to the FA for applying a bit of common sense in favour of plucky, cash-strapped minnows Manchester City.
Oh - wait....

Nasri will get off, and Beano won't.
The Pitch
I've just read the comments in the Oxford Times by Steven Moore, the MD of Sportsturf (the company brought in to manage the playing surface in the summer) in which he defends the state of the pitch on Tuesday. Tried to post the link, but it didn't work for some reason. He seems to think that the pit...

Re: Wilder Out?
My view is that our number one priority is to avoid relegation this season. With that in mind, sacking CW could be disruptive.

Aldershot game
OK - I'll start : Not much we could do about their equaliser - terrific goal : I was right behind it and Clarke had no chance. Didn't think Aldershot were up to much and for the first 20 minutes nor were we but we grew into it and ran the game for long periods. Alfie had a stinker (provocative !) an...

Re: Fixture Lists
OK - got that.
My main concern with the fixture list is that we get drawn away on Boxing Day every year, usually in an inconvenient location and never more so than this year.
Everything else is just noise.

Re: Apathy or Depression
Curiously, in a thread titled 'Apathy or Depression', I am encouraged - at last - that a sense of realism is present. That league table from 2006 made me shiver. Whatever the differences in management quality and financial circumstances, it can happen to us again this season, and bloody well will if...
Re: Wilder
Beautifully put, GY.
Re: Wilder
At the risk of appearing a proper grump, I think the 'got us out of the Conference' loyalty bit is wearing too thin. Like it or not, this is a world of continuous improvement. Lee Clark was doing a good job at Huddersfield, but was sacked and his successor achieved promotion. John Sheridan got Chest...
Re: Wilder
In the last bad spell, I was 60/40 in favour of keeping him and we had a bit of an upturn. But we have just bagged 1 point out of 9 and the minimum should have been 5, with 7 a realistic expectation. I believe CW has tonight and Saturday to save his job because getting a new man (John Ward, Alan Kni...

Re: Dag&Red
What we MUST achieve is enough points to be mathematically certain of avoiding relegation.
That was not a target at the beginning of the season, but based upon our performance to date, must be a first target.
Playoffs/automatic promotion can be reviewed as targets later.
