Re:

i think you can make a permanent signing too, non? as we did brevett - didn't have a contract, took him on loan, and then made it permanent outside the transfer window? You can if they don't have a contract as with the case with Brevitt. I guess that's how we've signed this new guy Luke Foster too ...

Considering in their first squad the only Oxford players they picked were Yemi and Dempster, neither of whom at the time were in our starting line-up, I don't think they are the best judge of a player.
Either that or Jim's told them they can't have any of the starting 11, which is a possibility.

Re:

Well, they do. There are plenty of Arsenal fans around who get fed up with Henry going missing in games - particularly the big ones. Well in that case maybe we can swap him for Duffy 'til the end of the season and see what they think then. Now that's a cracking idea!!! See I should have Jim's job, ...

Re:

I voted yes. He is a lazy git, but he's the player I trust most to ripple the onion bag. I don't think any team in the world can afford to drop its top scorer. For the record, here's my starting XI - in a strict 4-4-2 (obviously): Turley Anaclet Quinn Corcoran Brevitt Pettifer Foster Hargeaves Burg...

Re:

The 5 live commentators strongly suggested that Thierry Henry wasn’t that interested yesterday and was not putting in all he could. I have not heard Arsenal fans having a go – or perhaps they do. Well, they do. There are plenty of Arsenal fans around who get fed up with Henry going missing in games...

But unfortunatly he's not at the moment so i'd go with Duffy and Yemi as the front two. But even with Basham fit I'd still start with Duffy and have Bash and Yemi as interchangable depending on how the game is going (ie Aldershot @ home)

Well in that case... no, I have to say i'm not a great fan of Duffy and my Dad who came to only his second Oxford game (against Cambridge) couldn't understand why he was still on the pitch 'cause he was so lazy. That said, there is no-one else in the squad who has been able to score like he has, no ...

Re:

I would suggest this demonstrates that we did miss Duffy, not that we didn't miss him given our two strikers on Sat haven't yet scored a goal between them for either the first team or the reserves. I hate to be pedantic, or get involved in someone elses argument, but Robinson has scored. It may onl...

Yeah, good to see them getting in support of the strikers rather than leaving it up to them.

I read an interview with Eddie and he said that that is something in perticular they have been working on in training, so hopefully it's something we'll be seeing more of.

I get your point about ball-winners, but i think Foster seemed pretty competant at this last week and he managed to do something productive with it most of the time afterwards. And if Pettifer is fully-fit and his work-rate is as good as before he went away, they i think they should be our first cho...

Re:

According to today's Ox Mail Turley, Quinn, and Pettefer have all got flu, so there's a chance they won't play if the game goes ahead. turley seems to be training in the snow in the pictures now on the official site (or at least being sat on by odubade). i assume that means he's over his flu, or i ...

Team for Aldershot

Looking at the official site it seems certain we'll stick with 4-4-2 and they say Anaclet on the right with Foster in the middle, but 5 other midfielders are fit. So who out of Pettefer, Hargreaves, Burgess, Coombes and Rose whould you choose for those final 2 spots. I'd have to say Pettefer in the ...
