Re: SmileyMan's Run-In Numbers Thread

Updated main post on 15 Mar. Previous post: (updated to 12 Mar, next update 15 Mar) Here's a run-down of where we stand with 10 games to go, and how the League is shaping up in general. Comments Obviously with ten games to go there is still a lot to play for - 30 potential points (39 for the bloody ...

SmileyMan's Run-In Numbers Thread

(updated to 19 Mar, next update 25 Mar) Here's a run-down of where we stand with 8 games to go, and how the League is shaping up in general. Comments Northampton's Fergie-time victory killed off the faint hopes of Mansfield, Cambridge, Luton and Exeter being champions. York's playoff dream is over a...

Re: (Almost) Perfect Night

Yes, clearly the plan is to be far too tired and emotional to find the train station, and so descend upon whichever hotel can be convinced to keep the bar open all night

That's not a correction, it's a deliberately pedantic misunderstanding :P

Already got a nice bet earlier in the season. But I did just bet on Northampton to choke.....

(Almost) Perfect Night

Apart from John-Joe O'Toole's goal, that was (almost) a perfect set of results last night: - A convincing home win (first in 2016!) - Overtaking the team above us in the League - The teams immediately above and below us both lost - No other team in the top 7 won - In the last four days we have moved...

Re: Huge result

Blimey, it's nice to see such optimism. Pessimistic little me is just praying we can hold off Accrington and the rest for third... I've decided that one of the reasons I love football is because I can indulge that bit of human nature that embraces forlorn hope with unbridled optimism against all ob...

Re: Huge result

Accrington and Northampton both ending up with draw - after ten successive wins for the Cobblers - has brightened up the situation around us too. Who knows, maybe a strong push from us and a wobble from Wilder and we could start snapping at their heels again.

Re: The Six Pointer

The wobble we've had is seeing our rivals gain space on us in the title race - we've gone from title contenders to hoping we can hold onto third. A win tomorrow night will mean the chase is back on, a loss will mean it's probably over for the title. Should be a great match and lets hope these fans ...

Re: The Six Pointer

Also not sure what you mean by Wilder's "full knowledge of the pitch" - it's been completely relaid and made narrower since he was our manager! Most the three-sidedness, especially with a nice icy February wind. It's not about the automatic promotion slots - I think both teams will make i...

The Six Pointer

They don't get much bigger than this one. 3rd versus first, 9 points the difference, and old boss visits his previous team with full knowledge of the pitch and the weaknesses at the back. They've won seven on the trot while we've had a definite wobble. If ever there was a time to bring your 'A' game...

Re: A home defeat

COD also represents the exact sort of player we should be selling - youth team breaks into first team, does a good job and impresses scouts then departs and inflates the coffers, with potential for sell-on fees etc.
