Re: Where are they now?

Yes, quite right. At the time Wright was playing for us, Saunders was with Forest and with Sheffield United, both of whom would have visited the Manor so maybe the young lad just wanted a pic with one of his national heroes!

Re: Where are they now?

Anyone else remember Anthony / Tony Wright, who we had as a youngster for a few seasons in the late 90s? I recall him being a creative, exciting central midfielder who didn't really fit with our blood-and-thunder, hit-the-channels / get-it-straight-to-the-big-man style so he got released and faded a...

Re: Wem-Ber-Lee!

Well I've thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone's reports and listening to all the various podcasts since Saturday, and feeling the sense of sheer joy (and surprise) at the victory. It felt... too easy, almost? But as others have said, part of the reason Bolton didn't play well is that we didn't let t...

Re: Wem-Ber-Lee!

Didn't expect us to overcome Peterborough, delighted we did. I shall be at Wembley - but like you, the cost and logistics of it all are galling. Personally, I can't stand Wembley games. It's everything I dislike about modern football: vast, impersonal, lots of being herded around and subject to rule...

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake

Not living in Oxford anymore, I’m not as close to the county’s politics as I once was. Can someone who knows this stuff please explain the implication of this week’s council election results in Cherwell for United’s chances of getting permission for the new stadium? Lib Dems now the largest party on...

Re: play-off run in

I will be in Cardiff on Saturday night, can you suggest a pub that will have the game on? City centre, god knows, maybe The Rummer Tavern opposite the castle? But if you're anywhere around Cathays then The Crwys or The Blackweir have been obliging for me in the past when I've asked them to put Oxfo...

Very happy to have been proved wrong.

I’m not clear from the bits I’ve read on the socials: is the game definitely definitely on S*y Sp*rts? If so, I’ll need to find a pub in Dorset showing it as I’ll be at my in-laws’ for the weekend…

Re: play-off run in

It's not the despair, Laura. I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand. Indeed. And after today’s results, I think that’s it. If I was in a charitable mood (and I am, as I’ve been on the cider to celebrate the first properly sunny Saturday of the year), I’d say that we were in the playoff...

I have a VPN, and I know this option is available, but it's against the law. I'm not moralising about what anyone else chooses to do, but I'm not willing to do it myself.

Re: play-off run in

Tuesday was gutting, wasn't it. Lincoln didn't look that great, but they did a job on us. Tomorrow night is massive now if we're to regain the momentum that we want to have going into the playoffs. P*sses me off that I can't get an audio pass to listen to the commentaries for these games. I can't ju...

Not that we've had strange sponsors in the past The cartoon character pilates enthusiasts "Animalates". The tyre fitters "Black and Rounds" The allegedly "picked by monkeys" coconut water "Chaokoh". I guess the difference is that if you bought a tin of Chaoko...

Been quiet on here, recently, hasn’t it? I see that today we’ve signed up to allow some nefarious NFT / crypto nonsense company to advertise on our sleeves . There’s a very good thread here by the excellent Martin Calladine about it all; his book about football clubs’ unquestioning promotion of cryp...

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake

Delighted to see from the latest update that 25% of the new stadium will be safe standing, that's excellent news and highly increases the chances of re-establishing atmosphere at Oxford games that has sadly been missing since The Manor. One piece of good news in a week where OxVox have delivered an ...

Gas-tly

What an absolute barrel of bollocks. Apart from a 20min spell at the start of the second half, when we were already 2-0 down, there was no plan, no direction, no guile and no chance of any points. Bristol Rovers knew how to defend, we didn't. They had a pair of centre-halves who used their bodies to...

Re: outcobbled, a short canvas, rammed, and not addicked

The Triangle planning application was supposed to be put in November. Now I don't think there was a deadline to say it had to be in, but what's holding it up? We've already seen the original international stadium architects for Stratfield Brake replaced with a smaller UK based company. Are our owne...
