Mitchell Gene B Hanson joined Oxford in March 2011 until the end of the season, having impressed on trial with the reserves the previous month. Hanson played well in both right-back and central defensive positions. He had been released by Derby County in January 2011 after a career disrupted by injury. This trend was continued on his Oxford debut; after coming on as a substitute he suffered a head wound that required seven stitches just 12 minutes later.
