James Ashley Constable, striker, born Malmesbury, signed from Shrewsbury on 08 July 2008 on a season-long loan. Signed permanently on 28 April 2009. Won the Supporters Player of the Year and Players Player of the Year awards for 2008/09. The following season Constable scored United's second goal in the Conference play-off final win, for which he was captain, and was voted into the Conference Premier Team of the Year. He became the first Oxford player to be the club's leading scorer in five consecutive seasons, ending his U's career with 106 goals, just one short of Graham Atkinson's record which he would have beaten had his hat-trick against Chester City not been expunged from the records following Chester's expulsion from the Conference. Joined Eastleigh on 21 May 2014. His goal at Plymouth won the 2013/14 Oxford United Goal of the Season award. Capped three times for England C, scoring one goal.
