Odubade, born in Lagos, Nigeria, was signed by Brian Talbot in the January 2006 transfer window, after impressing against United for Eastbourne Borough in the first round of the FA Cup. His days looked numbered after Jim Smith became manager and declared himself distinctly unimpressed with Yemi, but hard work and his electric pace soon made the diminutive striker the first name on the team sheet. He was elected the Supporters Player of the Season for 2006/07, and also won the prestigious Rage Online Readers Player of the Season vote for the same season. His reward: another two-year contract. However, his form dipped in the middle of the 2007/08 season, and he was placed on the transfer list. This gave him the necessary kick up the bum, and he returned to the side revitalised, finishing the season as top scorer and one of the main sources of assists for his colleague`s goals. He was rewarded by being removed from the transfer list. His topsy-turvy season was reflected by him being voted both the joint Rage Online Player of the Season (with Adam Murray) and also the Weakest Link for the 2007/08 season. The following season Yemi's inconsistency continued, with the result that he was released at the end of the 2008/09 season as part of Chris Wilder's cull and signed for perennial Conference outfit Stevenage Borough.
