Former Northampton midfielder James Malcolm Hunt, born in Derby, rejoined Ian Atkins at United in the 2002 close-season. His style of play is the perfect complement to Bobby Ford, and his spectacular solo goal at Ashton Gate in the Worthington Cup shows that he can turn it on too. Also looks very comfortable in a three-man midfield. Unfortunately an injury which resulted in a broken toe caused Hunt to lose a lot of fitness after Christmas 2002 and he failed to regain his form for the rest of the season.
