Manny's surname should be pronounced to rhyme with 'annoying me, not the Nick Harris version of 'Ominimini'. United fans' first glimpse of the Nigerian former West Ham starlet came when he played on loan at Gillingham and he skinned Les Robinson before scoring. Manny's pace and trickery on the ball should be enough to cause panic in any defence, although unfortunately there's too often no end product. He endeared himself to all bar Westam fans by neglecting to mention to the happy Hammers that he'd played in the League Cup when at the Gills, and he turned out for West Ham in the same competition, causing them eventually to be eliminated from the tournament. Never mind - their loss was United's gain. His inconsistency meant that when he played it was generally from the bench, but he demonstrated an ability to turn a game when he came on, but sadly not often enough. Manny won England Schoolboy honours.
