Another defeat, this time at Bristol Rovers, and another performance of appaling ineptitude with United never looking like threatening Rovers' record of not yet conceding this season. Oxford gave a debut to new signing Neil McGowan, who came on midway through the second half for an injured Powell. Phil Whelan also started for the first time this season. Steve Anthrobus was sent off for violent conduct and faces a three match ban. Check out the match report if you can stand it.
Former U's finding the net include Mark Stein for Bournemouth and Paul Wanless for Cambridge United. David Bardsley was at the centre of controversy as he failed to return the ball to Gillingham after the ball had been kicked into touch for an injured player to receive treatment. Blackpool equalised from Bardsley's cross to share the points.
