Warren pisser!

Oxford achieved their second successive away win at Notts County thanks to a late own goal from former United loanee Mark Warren, whose back pass was totally fluffed by County 'keeper Darren Ward. Mickey Lewis brought in Steve Davis to the defence with Les Robinson pushed into midfield and Jamie Lambert reduced to the bench. Steve Anthrobus replaced Derek Lilley midway into the second half. Steve Davis was booked for a professional foul. There's a brief match report which fails to go into further detail.

Arendse selected

Andre Arendse was unavailable for selection tonight due to his call-up into the South African squad which is due to play Sweden at the weekend in a friendly. This means, obviously, that he will also miss the game at Chesterfield on Saturday.

United's next skipper?

The overwhelming majority of voters in the Rage Online “Who should be United's captain?” poll chose Canadian international Mark Watson, who received a massive 60% of the vote. A long way back in second place with 10% was Peter Fear, who can't even get into the first team at present. Matt Murphy scored 8% and the rest of the squad, including current captain Les Robinson, scored no more than 3% each.

Former U's

Martin Foyle scored Port Vale's third as they won 3-1 at Sheffield United. Mark Stein scored twice for Bournemouth in their 4-1 win over Brentford. Paul Moody was on target twice for Millwall, who won 2-1 at Blackpool. Gillingham's second in their 4-1 win at Scunthorpe was scored by Andy Thomson.
