United lost 4-2 at Luton, after being 3-0 down at half time. Liam George scored the first and third (suspiciously offside, in first half injury time), with Stuart Fraser grabbing the second, his first for Luton, after Arendse flapped at a cross. Paul Powell scored Oxford's first with a cross that went in off the bar, and Derek Lilley grabbed United's second. Adam Locke finished the scoring, two minutes from time, to maintain Luton's unbeaten home record. Lilley had come on for an injured Paul Tait, and Mark Watson and Jamie Cook replaced Mickey Lewis and Rob Folland respectively. Read the match report and make yourselves even more depressed.
Former U's in the news: Phil Gilchrist made his full premiership debut for Leicester City; Ray Houghton has left Reading and joined Stevenage Borough on a non-contract basis; Dave Leworthy was shown the red card for Kingstonian. Goalscorers included Matt Le Tissier with two for Southampton, Lee Nogan scored his first for Darlington, Paul Wanless scored for Cambridge, Guy Butters for Gillingham, and Mark Stein for Bournemouth.
