United beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park, thanks to a Joey Beauchamp goal after quarter of an hour, the first time the U's have ever won there. Arendse returned to goal and Steve Davis returned to the defence. Anthrobus was replaced by Lilley towards the end of the game. A match report gives a bit more detail.
The only ex-Oxford player to find the scoresheet today was Bradford's Dean Saunders.
Former Oxford player Colin Todd has resigned as manager of Bolton Wanderers after his chairman agreed to sell Per Frandsen to Blackburn Rovers for £1.75 million (rising to £2.25 million). Todd has been working under severe financial constraints (as severe as Shotton's?) and feels that this is the last straw. The Bolton chairman said he felt that the parting was on amicable terms!
