Shrews news

In the FA Cup 2nd round United scraped a 2-2 draw at Shrewsbury Town. Second half goals from Matt Murphy and Rob Folland rescued Oxford, who were 2-0 down after 55 minutes thanks to two goals from Steve Kerrigan. United's starting line-up was the same as for the Bury game, with second half substitutes Steve Anthrobus and Jamie Cook (on for Derek Lilley and Jamie Lambert) turning the game around. P&#229l Lundin was booked in the first half for time wasting after being forced to move the ball about five yards for a free kick by an extremely picky linesman, who also missed a clear offside decision before Shrewsbury's first goal. The replay will be on Tuesday 30th November. Don't forget the match report.

AWS Draw

In the first round of the Auto Windscreens Shield southern section United were drawn at home to Luton Town, thus ending our interest in that particular competition! The game will be played on Tuesday 7th December.

Former U's

Dean Windass scored a last minute goal as Bradford City lost 2-1 at Leeds. Martin Foyle grabbed Port Vale's second in their 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace. Blackpool's second in their 2-0 victory over Hendon was scored by John Durnin. Guy Butters opened the scoring as Gillingham beat Darlington 3-1. O'Neill Donaldson scored Torquay's third as they won 3-0 at Forest Green Rovers. Danny Cullip was sent off as Brighton drew 0-0 at Plymouth.
