Rasulo to the rescue

Oxford United have signed young midfielder Giorgio Rasulo on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 18 year-old arrives from Division Three side Milton Keynes Dons, joining fellow teammate George Baldock at the Kassam Stadium.

Rasulo joined MK Dons when he was 13-years-old, before progressing through the clubs youth ranks to make his first-team debut aged 15 in their 6-1 thrashing of Cambridge City back in 2012.

The England Under-17 international, who is from Banbury, becomes manager Michael Appleton’s 22nd signing of the season since arriving last summer.

Appleton said: “He’s a talented lad and can play in a few positions in midfield or as the number ten.

“He creates things, he has been very impressive in training this week and being a local lad he knows what the club is all about and what we are trying to build.

“We have fifteen games left and hopefully he can come in, give us something a little different to what we already have and make an impact between now and the end of the season.”

Rasulo, who goes straight into United’s squad to face Mansfield Town on Saturday, added: “Oxford are a really good club.

“I’m here to get some game time because it’s obviously difficult at MK. I’m really looking forward to it.

“The club (United) are trying to play like the Dons, so it’s not going to be any different for me.

“I just wanted to go on loan and play at the highest level, which I feel I’ve done.”
