Poll results

The Rage Online poll for who voters would least like to be United's manager was won convincingly by Denis Smith, with 38% of the vote. In second place was Steve McMahon who received 23%, and third was Terry Venables who scored 11%. Mark McGhee and Maurice Evans each received 6% and the current caretaker Mickey Lewis received 5% (as did Chris Kamara). Jim Smith, Glen Hoddle and Joe Kinnear failed to score any votes.

Former U's

Mark Stein scored Bournemouth's fourth, in the last minute, as they overcame Notts County 4-1 in the FA Cup 1st round replay; Andy Thomson scored Gillingham's first as they overcame Cheltenham 3-2.
