Traditional post-Christmas slump

Time to find out if it's an Oxford thing or a Wilder thing. Fingers crossed for the latter!

Yesterday's match was pretty much the textbook definition of 'a draw is a fair result' although their goal was spawny as hell, neither side went out and either earned the win or deserved to lose.

A draw was indeed a fair result, although either side could have nicked it.

We had too many players who were off their game yesterday: Sercombe, Lundstram, O'Dowda and Roofe were all some way short of their best form. That said, Carlisle made it very difficult for us, very competitive (it felt like they won every 50-50 situation) and direct. That's definitely the shakiest I've seen the defence this season; great credit, therefore, to Dunks for an excellent performance and a well deserved man of the match award.

A point will do, especially if we beat Wycombe next week.

Maguire is obviously a decent player but wasn't really what we needed yesterday. Hylton or Hoban would have held up the ball better and given us time to get into the game. Anyway, I thought we did look tired and less up for it than them, and didn't deserve more than a point. Not a big problem though it would be better to win one and lose one than draw too many more home games.

Thirteen points dropped from eleven home games. And for all the attractive football, we're not scoring that many goals at Grenoble Rd. In fact we've only scored a second goal in a home league game once since August - and that was in losing to Barnet!

Though as Shoobedoo says these home draws become good points if we win away and maintain the average ppg.

Average at home, great away - now where have I heard that before?

It seems to take half an hour of pressure for us to score a goal. We need a fox in the box
