I don't buy that - given that OOC players will have been at the club for a considerable time and the management get to see them in training every day and then on the pitch in matches, I cannot believe that even a fantastic performance in a dead rubber would have any influence on the long term decision about their future.

I'm hoping he meant &quotto earn a contract&quot elsewhere - i.e some lower division scouts were at the game and Wilder decided to let them see what they might be interested in. Probably explains the decent performance too.
