Another defender signed
Bury Centre Back Ben Futcher.
So, clearly CW thinks we aren't having any issues up front, then??

Looks like a good signing, and all CW's comments this week suggest a striker will be with us by the weekend.

I think you're building yourself a bit of a strawman there, rm."recordmeister" wrote:Bury Centre Back Ben Futcher.

Re:
Not really. Wilder has since gone on record saying that as much as he wants to build a good young team it is now clear that some more experienced, calmer heads are needed. Don't think we'd have made a move for either of these two signings otherwise."Werthers Original" wrote:He's yuge isn't he, meant to be good
Probably a good thing but a bit of a swerve from the 'young, hungry, speedy team' idea that we were supposed to be going for

Re:
I think there's a balance to be made. Wilder's right to want to develop a young side - but a young side losing games will learn nothing. Some short-term loan signings to bolster the squad, add some experience and calm the nerves is a necessary short-term concession for the benefit of medium/long-term gain."headless_pnub" wrote:Not really. Somebody suggested that CW thinks that we don't have problems upfront?
I actually think that these 2 signings should see us score quite a few more goals. If Woton is half as good a dead ball specialist as he is made out to be and with Futcher being so tall, surely we will score some goals from corners/ free kicks?
So whilst I would think that CW may well sign another striker, these signings may well mean that we score more anyway.

Re: Another defender signed
Well, it just seems to me that we have a lot of defenders and a huge number of centre backs in our squad."Joey's Toe" wrote:Blimey, who pissed in your porridge?"recordmeister" wrote:So, clearly CW thinks we aren't having any issues up front, then??

This smacks less of judgement about players and more the barry fry school of "throw enough players at a wall and some will stick".
I do agree that we're letting in goals, but I'm more worried about the fact we're scoring less / none at the moment. Hopefully the new striker from plymouth will help...

Not a good signing, on the limited evidence of 2 games.
