Oxford 2 Kettering 1

Wilmott, Deering, Seddon.

4685 (385)

UE Whilst Rage on Line's very own Sam Deering skips through the static Kettering defence (in a pair of lovely new boots) to net the winner he is clearly heard to be singing &quotI'm a laughing gnome and you can't catch me&quot

Oxford 2 (Constable, Guy) Kettering 1 (Seddon). Attendance 4,300. Away crowd 250.

Unexpected event: DP completes his post match interview without using the word 'honest'.

UE: We get through a Hat against a team with an ex-Oxford player in the squad without someone predicting that that player doesn't score against us even though every ex-Oxford player in the history of the universe has. Sam Deering has his new boots stolen at halftime, Ron Atkinson is the RadOx co-commentator and the Kettering skipper hands over a pennant at the toss-up because it's his cup final. Oh, and neither Dempster nor Rawle score.

UE: Derek Dougan plays for Kettering, for old-time's sake. Oxford retaliate by bringing on Big Ron. An error in writing out the team sheets means that Matt Day plays for Kettering, and his errors lead to all Oxford's goals. All Kettering goals are screamers that Hinchliffe has no chance with. At the end of the game all home and away fans join hands and conduct a chorus of the Internationale, which foments revolutionary zeal and leads directly to the break-away Socialist Republic of Oxfordshire. Andy Cameron is first up against the wall. Andrew Smith is second.

UE: Entire crowd rendered unconscious as a result of the... er... &quotafter-effects&quot of Matt Day’s high-fibre crash diet.

1-1
Guy, Westcarr

A nihilist protest about nothing in particular in the East Stand is interrupted as fighting breaks out between Bogomils and Manichaeans over the precise balance of dualism and gnosticism in 5-3-2 or is it 3-5-2 formations, in turn interrupted by a Cathar uprising in the South Stand Upper. The Papal Albigensian crusade to quell this is forestalled by the arrival of Bloody Mary - for it is she - who builds a bonfire, builds a bonfire and puts the heretics on the top.
