Oh good – no more home league games until the 29th of January, and even that game is on the telly so I could stay at home secure in the knowledge that I’m still fully supporting Jim &amp Nick financially via my season ticket.

Anyway, and back to the FAT. We’re still in with a good chance of winning this fantastic trophy (and hey, the mighty York City are already out!) so if we beat Lewes on Tuesday night (assuming that the Gypsy Curse is having another night off) we’ll collect £4,000 from the FA, and that’s enough to pay a decent striker for a fortnight.

That kind of money would also more than pay for a case of really nice scotch for Jim Smith to improve his mood, because given his attitude to Nathan Cooper and other OUFC fans after the game today that might well be money well spent.

Or better still, maybe Jim should take a break and go off to his holiday home in Spain for a couple of games and leave Patterson to deal with Lewes and Halifax Town..

Surely this crap fixture on Tuesday night gives us the opportunity to get back to winning ways.

It’s a pity that two wins in the FA Trophy will not bring us any Conference points, so we’re no closer to regaining our Football League status until two weeks on Monday as the Division V table is not going to change until then.

A lot of ST holders and regulars will not attend on Tuesday and (if we win) on Saturday so why can’t Merry do the same as proper Chairmen do and take the people who matter to this club away and do some proper bonding (e.g. on a sunshine holiday) and leave the up-and-coming staff to run things for a while? Hey, we even have a decent captain in Rose to help some of the youth team in the FAT while Jim &amp Co could be away refreshing their batteries.

It just makes sense to step back for a while. Even Kassam promised Atkins’ squad a Las Vegas extravaganza if they won the League so maybe the “&amp Co.

Yea. Make that Brazil and whilst we're out there pick up a few talented natives off the beach who are willing to come over and play for us for nothing. Add in hours off practice at taking decent set pieces so that in future we might cause the opposition the tiniest of concerns when we get a corner or free kick, sensible discussions over cocktails of the advantages and disadvantages of playing wing backs with the squad we're got, having specialist medical facilities in the hotel to get our half fit players back to peak condition ....... then it might just be worthwhile going on such a jaunt.

Only problem with your proposal is that Rose isn't eligible to play in the replay - neither is Santos.

It just gets better and better.

We could play Rose and then get chucked out of the FAT for a breach of the rules whatever the result!

I cannot believe I am saying this but Tuesday is a 'must win' game.

Oh dear.

I thought that about Saturday - but you're absolutely right about this one.

Disagree with both of you. We're starting to pick up injuries, plenty of the team look like they could do with a break, and fixtures will start coming thick and fast again before long if we win tomorrow and Saturday.

Given our recent slump, absolutely EVERYTHING must go towards getting back on track in the league, so let's jettison the Trophy as soon as possible.

Of course, if we were to put out a full strength side and still lose tomorrow, that would be a real disaster for confidence levels. So let's not even court that possibility and play the Under 18s instead. They seem to know how to win games...

And here is another bloke who doesn’t fancy going to the game on Tuesday.

So, whereabouts on this list will tonight's game feature? My guess is between Colchester and Dartford.

Between Dartford and Swansea. Which is also geographically correct.

Correct Mally, but no bonus Hat points I’m afraid!

No idea what made me turn up tonight, but I’ll give myself a reality check and make sure I’m doing something more interesting on Saturday, like tidying my sock drawer.

Maybe the Gypsy has a sense of humour in now making OUFC trot out against Halifax in this nonsense competition rather than doing his usual on a Tuesday night.

Aren't gypsy curses feminine rather than masculine, or at least isn't it generally female gypsies that go around laying down curses rather than male ones?
