No real surprise, David Gold is a fucking classless goon. Don't want to play WHUFC, but if we did, would be great to smear egg on their boat races.

Gold clearly has no faith in his team if he thinks the only way they can get a half-decent cup run is by getting drawn at home against lower league opposition.

So, Newport or Blackburn in the next round. For those of you interested, their rearranged game is next Monday night on S4C. God knows what'll happen if - as is entirely possible - it gets called off again because of Newport's pudding of a pitch.

Newport gave us more trouble than Swansea did. Heck, FGR did. Don't know anything about Blackburns current team

I should imagine Appleton will fancy getting one over on his old club.

So too Rovers legend Derek Fazackerley.

I would prefer to see Newport come through against Rovers. It would give us a great chance of reaching the 5th round.

The rearranged Newport / Blackburn 3rd round tie is on Monday 18th. If it's on, presumably any potential replay would be on Tuesday 26th Jan. With the fourth round due Saturday 30th Jan, would it be too late to schedule us for tv?

So Newcastle looked at all the players on the pitch on Sunday and concluded that Shelvey for £12m was the deal to be done.

Literally more money than sense.

The Shelvey deal is extraordinary. Not only did he reveal an extremely poor attitude and selfishness throughout the match, but his lack of fitness too was shameful (the video of little Hoobs' legs scurrying past him while JJS has his hands on knees is hilarious).

But hey. If that's what Mike Ashley wants to spend his ill-gotten gains on, that's his lookout.

It is annoying that we would never be offered that sort of wedge for one of our players, despite a number of them looking thrice the player Shelvey is.

If we sold Lundstram for £15m, for instance, we could buy the stadium, build a fourth stand and pluck another talented, hungry youngster from West Brom's reserves.

Modern football stinks.

Well indeed.

The silver lining in the cloud of modern football is that young English players now have to find their feet in the lower reaches of the Football League. I don't think we'd have half the players we have in our team if the two leagues at the top had quite so many Johnny Foreigners in them.

Interesting however to see that one of the starting XI for the Swans on Sat was a team mate of Sercombe's at Exeter until last season.

The Swans game was the only real ‘shock result’ of this year’s FA Cup competition!
