I think that because he was released outside of the window, he has to wait for the window to re-open. Whereas if he'd been released during the window, he'd be regarded as a free agent.Dr Bob wrote:If he has left Mansfield, doesn't that make him a free agent? Re: Where are they now?
According to that beacon of football journalism, Vital Football - Oxford United, Chris Hackett has returned to OUFC as under-15's coach.
I can't see the story corroborated anywhere else, but when I googled to see if it had been reported I came across this article reminiscing about Hearts' 11 (eleven!) signings in the January 2006 transfer window. Which reminded me what a sad, cheap, pointless sale his was - one of the three that went a long way to sending Us down to the Conference that year.

Re: Where are they now?
Indeed. £20k for Hackett, plus the cost of another year of Lee Bradbury's wages if we'd kept him on. Pretty sure our four years in the CONference cost us more than those two, and both players would have made a massive difference. Instead we put our faith in Tim Sills(!).Kernow Yellow wrote: I can't see the story corroborated anywhere else, but when I googled to see if it had been reported I came across this article reminiscing about Hearts' 11 (eleven!) signings in the January 2006 transfer window. ...he does get 2/10 when some of his colleagues get a 1 from the local press.
It's a shame really, as York always struck me as a decent club. There are a lot of similarities with Oxford as a city, and we can count our lucky starts for Mr Eales, I feel.
