Another entry for the "outfield players playing in goal" section. Matt Holland for Ipswich in their 5-2 victory over the Us in 1998.

... and the Liverpool Echo pick a "worst 35 ever to play for Everton". No Oxford players, but Mitch Ward gets a mention for leading the club as skipper against Oxford United in the league cup and losing 1-0.

GiveMeSport via Here Is The City pick "the one player every Premier League teams regrets selling".
https://www.givemesport.com/1558095-pre ... been-named
John Lundstram for Everton. Althought it did take him another four years to get back to the Premier League.

Meanwhile the Transfer Tavern imagine the match that was next up for Sheffield United - Spurs, and the battle between Lundstram and Ndombele.

Ray Houghton and John Aldridge mentioned in this article about the Republic of Ireland playing in the Iceland International tournament. (Not one I'd heard of).

In another journalist scraping the barrel feature, Oxford United are high up in a round up of Stoke City's 'worst' opponents.

It might be 'scraping the barrel', but I'd absolutely love that kind of statistical analysis of OUFC's ppg record against all opponents!

Crystal Palace playing a mid-season friendly in Hong Kong, and a side note to the infamous Eric Cantona flying kick at Crystal Palace.

Rory Ginty had watched that incident unfold from the Palace bench, he told The42.ie.

“For every home match, some of the youth team lads would have to do jobs behind the scenes and I was there for that game,” Ginty said. “One of our jobs was to clean up the dressing rooms afterwards, but while the game was on we were sitting behind the bench. I remember vividly seeing Cantona jumping into the crowd.”

Ginty said he was “brought back down to earth fairly fast by playing against Oxford United reserves the day after we got back” and Palace were also brought back down to earth.

Burnley remember their last game of the millennium in December 1999 against Oxford United.
Sadly not a good result for us.
Burnley went on to win promotion from the third tier.

Another one for you, Huddersfield Town's best opponents (from their point of view) at the John Smith's stadium.
