So OLD ABINGDONIAN is the new Bootmeister as he had less attempts to get 9 Boots. Congratulations!

What an honour! After thanking everyone (and especially our cat) in my gracious victory speech, I have come back down to earth.

Could a previous potholder tell me what the Bootmeister actually does, please?

The activities are as follows*:

- Remind the winner of the Luton (a) boot to set the first boot next season
- Produce a monthly league table and publish it
- Remind the next setter via PM if they haven't set a boot with 48 hours to go
- Set a boot if there is 36 hours to go and the previous winner hasn't
- Decide on a suitable points deduction for non-setting of boot
- Advertise the competition on the main board prior to the season starting
- Arbitrate on any disputes between Boot participants
- Take OUFC training on every third Tuesday
- Calm down the fourth official each week post-match
- Buy all Boot participants a pint of their choice before each away game
- Work out the main stadium options and present these to the extended Board before the first home game of next season
- Wind up Jamie Mackie before each match to get him into a suitable frame of mind
- Chaperone Gavin Whyte on nights out in Belfast
- Cut Josh Ruffels' hair on demand
- Personally finance any losses that the club incurs next season

That about covers it.

*some of these may not be true

I'd suggest it's a good idea to announce your end-of-season tie breaker strategy before we start!

Hoglette and I both went with the 'least attempts' model but then what if that doesn't seperate the leaders? I'd then go to who reached their total first although I think in the past a Bootmeister gave it to whoever peaked last. It's a bloody minefield but hopefully you won't have too many sleepless nights!
