Ainsworth getting the boot?

Predictions as they were meant to be. Or not. Whatever.

Ainsworth getting the boot?

Post by Radley Rambler »

We haven't had a cascade for a while and so here goes. A slight variation on the usual is that you have to lose two lives before you are excluded hence more questions that usual.

1) Will Oxford score?
2) Will Wycombe score?
3) Will there be a red card shown?
4) Will there be more than 2 goals in the match?
5) Will someone with a shirt number of 20 or over score a goal?
6) Which team will commit more fouls?
7) Which team will have more shots?
8 Which team will have more corners?
9) Will a penalty be awarded?
10) How many subs will be used?

TB1 - Predict an unusual event
TB2 - Number of goals scored in League 1 on Saturday - no repeats, in the event of a tie, earlier post wins.

Mmm, not sure UEs work as a TB. Maybe as a general question but they're a bit ambiguous for BIG decisions particularly as people like me take a cautious approach whereas as AC has NO chance at all! Perhaps Boogie would like to re-instate The Hat for next season so you can get your UE fix?!?! Anyway ...

1) Will Oxford score? Yes
2) Will Wycombe score? Yes
3) Will there be a red card shown? No
4) Will there be more than 2 goals in the match? Yes
5) Will someone with a shirt number of 20 or over score a goal? Yes
6) Which team will commit more fouls? Ox
7) Which team will have more shots? Ox
8 Which team will have more corners? Ox
9) Will a penalty be awarded? No
10) How many subs will be used? Six

TB1. A sub on is subbed off again (See what I mean!)
TB2. 31

Too cautious = not unusual and would become void! (all decisions are at the sole discretion of the Boot setter!)

TB1 - As Wycombe are being put the sword and a grizzled Ainsworth is surrounded by the yellow forces, the end looks near, suddenly a dragon appears, circles the ground uttering raucous cries and torches the advancing forwards. The blistered midfield and shocked defence bow their knees in submission in the watery spring sunshine. However, icy tendrills appear over the fence end and the ground hardens as swirling grey clouds pressage a sinister turn ... (to be continued).

TB2 - 25

Results as follows:

Hoglette and I fell at the 4th
Boogie at the 5th

Questions 6 & 7 didn't have an obvious answer as the number of shots and fouls were equal and so the remaining folk progressed through these rounds by default.

Old Abingdonian, Ancient Colin and Hog fell at the 9th question and Geoff made it to the last question so he is the winner.

Well done Geoff and thank you for helping me to avoid having to assess the UE tiebreakers including Old Abingdonian's:

'TB1 - Predict an unusual event The sum of the square of each of the Wycombe shirt numbers is equal to the square of the sum of the Oxford shirt numbers (starters only).'

 Sorry to disappoint Radley, but my answer to question nine was incorrect. I look forward to you working out the square root of diddly squat.

3,559 to 17,956 so not even close. Was the result a function of "two strikes and you're out"?

Correct but everyone had two lives and so you're still the winner!
