Great 'keeper - will never forget him helping us to beat Tranmere in the League up on penalties. Can't imagine him in his new job though without thinking of this.

Really? That's not how I think of Dunkley. Some games he struggled a bit, for sure (eg Bolton at home last season, Exeter the year before), but there were plenty where he didn't get close to making a 'potentially catastrophic' error. Indeed I'd say that they were a rarity, and he handled Premier League and Championship teams ok in the Cup games without looking out of place. His real problem was his control and distribution, so while the defending tended to go pretty well, he didn't always suit our 'play from the back' system. And he struggled when a pacy forward ran at him, but I'd say that was often the fault of a lack of protection from our midfield.

I haven't seen enough of Raglan to have an opinion of how they compare(d).

I was really impressed by Raglan at the end of the season. His positioning seemed excellent, he was quick enough, and won a lot in the air, despite being smaller than Dunkley. I think on this basis that overall, Raglan is a better player.

However, Dunkley is a real threat in the opposition box, and has scored some key goals, and not just that one at home v Wycombe. Now, whether someone else can take the role on a regular basis, I don't know. Nelson scored a cracker against Newcastle.

I did notice that Nelson came up for corners a lot more once Dunkley had been dropped to the bench.

I think Dunkley was overrated coming up from the back. The stats show he only scored 3 goals last season, which is hardly prolific even for a centre back. He probably scored as many own goals in that period, and he gave away a lot of penalties.

Not exactly a "Where are they now", and apologies if this is posted up-thread, but Freddie Woodman, who saved the penalty in England U20's world cup win, is, I gather, Andy Woodman's son ...

And, more to the point, England U-20's were managed to World Cup victory by Us legend Paul Simpson. Great to see Simmo doing well again - his managerial career seemed to stall after a promising start, and I hadn't even realised he was in a job at the moment.
