The Iron Heel
Apologies for late posting. This is a zonal cascade, if all survivors fail a level then all move to the next level.
L1) time of first goal (a) 0-23mins; (b) 24-45mins*; (c) 46*-57mins; (d) later than 58 mins
L2) total goals in game (a) 0-1; (b) 2-3; (c) 4-5; (d) 6 or more
L3) total shots by Oxford (a) 0-6; (b) 7-12; (c) 13-17; (d) 18 or more
L4) total fouls, both sides (a) 0-12; (b) 13-24; (c) 25-36; (d) 37 or more
TB: total crowd. If two entrants are level, smaller total wins.
* (b) includes all goals from 24 up to half time, (c) includes all goals from half time up to 57 minutes.

You guess 7,800, I guess 8,000. Actual crowd is 7,900. We are both 100 out but you win because 7,800 < 8,000. What's wrong with that?Radley Rambler wrote:

Re: The Iron Heel
Fortunately, linguistic debate on precision terminology for the description of the partitioning of an assumed linear number line is rendered moot since only Mr T suggested an early goal: all the competition fell at the first hurdle. A mention in dispatches for Monsieur Rambler, who was within two of the announced crowd.

Re: The Iron Heel
what's a curve, then? And the demarcation units may be non-linear (for example a log scale or a power scale) ... if I get to set another boot, I may need to include Riemannian geometry somewhereOld Abingdonian wrote:Aren't all lines linear?
