I am not normally given to schadenfreude, but given their attitude when they came to Grenoble Road last year, I shall make an exception with them. Schadenfreude on schadenfreude is OK, I think.
The bad memories of 2006 still burn inside me so normally I'd be with you on this. However, it appears that LO are another victim of a terrible owner seemingly hell-bent on driving a club to the wall.

Why is it that the FA and the EFL stand idly by as supporters of clubs are subjected to terrible ownership?

I guess it suits the big clubs well - allowing for some extremely dodgy stuff like money laundering and tax avoidance at the top end, while inflating the costs of building squads to challenge the elite - and the FA are in thrall to them. For smaller clubs it means potential windows of success, where small clubs can rocket up the bottom three divisions with overblown budgets, followed by utter devastation often characterised by relegation to the Conference or worse, and at best fan ownership.

My wife actually worked for Leyton Orient when they relegated us. Not my happiest day.

However, I don't think it ever pays to laugh at anyone unfortunate enough to be in the mess they're in. We, more than anyone, should know that. All it takes is a bad owner, some downward progression, and then one really bad season, and before you know it, years of proud league history disappear in a Barrow-shaped puff of smoke.

The other thing to think about is that Orient, like all clubs at this level, employ a lot of decent, hard-working people and the club's financial straights mean that they are now all extremely vulnerable to losing their jobs. The club's community programme is one of the best, and most progressive in the league, despite ambivalence from a series of chairmen. It will struggle to keep going if the club's loses its FL place.

Yes, some of their fans laughed at us last season (and I thought at the time, that may well come back to haunt them), but our fans sang "MK Dons" to AFCW. Fans, generally, are dicks to each other. I believe the youth today call it 'Bantz".

Yes and I genuinely feel sorry for the majority of their fans. However, for those fu**ers who danced on our pitch and with no grace took the p*ss when we were relegated - see attached.

If the roles had been reversed, I would support our promotion but be very mindful of the home fans state of mind.*

*Unless we were at the County Ground at which point all bets would be off and I'd likely be arrested for the first time (but boy would it be worth it).

Well the last two games I've seen have been at home against the top two, and it's shown that while we can Graeme Hick it with the best of them against the likes of Chesterfield, it's a different matter against the really good sides. They both cut through us like the proverbial knife through butter.

My feeling is we're pretty much where we've been placed most of the season... an upper mid-table side, with some decent players, and able to put on a good show at times, but no more than that. As someone said to me tonight, if you divide the pitch up into four sections, we're very good in the third section, not so great in the fourth. Flatter to deceive when attacking is another way of putting that.

Our defence has relied too long on Eastwood's brilliance, but I suspect if we want to truly challenge at the top of this division, we need three new members of our back four, Nelson being the exception.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with this season, but we're a long way from being a great side.

Exactly how I'd put it. I think we need some adults up front and new full backs, and I hope someone a bit canny and nasty ... another Maguire, and keep the current one.

Agreed.

Have we discussed whom Appleton's '3 or 4' good players would replace?

I think we need another left back (sorry, Joe, but quite a few goals down the opposition's right), another right back, and Dunks just has an error a game in him.

And a better target forward.

Thoughts?
