Hope you made it! What an incredible (albeit slightly flattering) result. League consolidation and a good cup run - that's all I wanted at the start of the season, and we've certainly delivered.

A slightly flattering scoreline, in that they were completely unable to take their chances and we buried all of ours, but not an undeserved win by any means.

Can't wait to see who we get in the draw now!

We rode our luck in the first half, due to a combination of poor away finishing and great Eastwood goalkeeping, but the 2nd half we went at 'em, and apart from their penalty, they never had a sniff, and we could easily have scored more. Tremendous afternoon!

Anyone know when the 5th round draw is taking place? It's not listed on the BBC on Monday...

For the first quarter of the match, it was pretty even. It was clear from the off that their players had a great first touch and their short passing was superb, but they created nothing from it. We too had our moments, but could not create many clear cut chances (apart from the one short corner that led to Hall's near-post shot being saved). As the half wore on, they dominated play more and Eastwood's three saves near the end kept us in the game. In the second half, however, apart from Mitrovic's drive, penalty and subsequent (brilliant) save from Eastwood, they offered nothing. We just went for it and outplayed them, repeatedly driving them back. Chey's header was superb to set up the first goal, Nelson shook off his marker brilliantly for the second - and as for the third, fantastic cross and great header.

Our midfield was excellent - but a shout out for Ledson. That was such a great performance from him. We defended brilliantly (apart from the pen, how many clear shots on goal did they have second half?), and seeing Johnson repeatedly taking out their right back was a joy to behold. Eastwood was definitely man of the match, but every single player did their bit...and more.

Listening to the 5 Live commentary earlier of Liverpool-Wolves, repeatedly the commentator talked about how some of the Liverpool players went down easily under challenges and looked aghast at not getting a free kick, as if they should not be tackled. I could not help thinking during the game how some of the Newcastle players seemed to have exactly the same problem. Since when did football become a non-contact sport in the minds of some of these players? At first, I got the impression that the ref was being a bit pro-Newcastle with some of his decisions. As the game wore on, however, it was good that most of those challenges were seen by him as tackles rather than fouls.

I guess it is the footie fanboy in me, but looking down from the gods to see Rafa in the away technical area gave me a real buzz. Strange, but my wife thought exactly the same watching him talk about our game on MotD.

We have done our bit. Let us now get drawn away at one of the really big clubs, get a payday, and then concentrate on the league (and Checkatrade).

Yes I made it thanks, even though it was a two and a half hour journey due to a broken down lorry!

I agree about the league consolidation and cup run, but I didn't imagine we'd reach the fifth round!

Superb display from Eastwood otherwise we could have been two down at half time, which would have made it a much different second half. Thought we took the game to Newcastle really well in the second half and only the penalty could have stopped us. Cue Mr. Eastwood again. Marvin did really well down the left. I wonder if their right back has stopped having nightmares yet? Mitrovic tried to play to the crowd and it backfired. Our one touch passing was superb at times. Three well taken goals, what more could you ask for?

Well as you mention it, Lincoln at home in the next round.

Well I was worried about missing kick-off as I couldn't leave Cornwall til 10.15, but as it happened I got parked up in good time and even had time for a quick drink in the hotel bar, despite the broken-down lorry!

What a great day. The crowd in full voice, the banners back behind the East Stand, and the players bang up for it. Being in the Family Stand with my kids, it was great that the atmosphere and singing permeated right round there for once, and the noise when Eastwood saved that penalty was immense - not sure I've ever heard the Kasstad so loud!

They were all great of course, but special mention to Ryan Ledson, who absolutely bossed the midfield. And Toni Martinez - he's no Tyler Roberts, in all the right ways! I'm wary of making judgements on such a short display, but what a prospect he looks.

It was also great being out in town in the evening with a yellow scarf on, with chants of 'YELLOWS' ringing round the streets and pubs. Like the old days. In the space of a week or so, we get to celebrate a famous victory, enjoy the anticipation of a draw for the last 16 of the FA cup, play another cup tie and go to Sw*ndon for a proper local derby. What a great time to be an Oxford fan.

Ok - so let's draw Millwall at home in the next round and beat them. Let's have Lincoln v Sutton drawn together as well. Let's then get the winner of that tie at home in the 6th round and we'd likely be off to Wembley for a proper game.

Anyone sad enough to work out the odds of these draws happening and then the required odds of us beating a L1 and Conf side at home?

Millwall at home? No thanks. We didn't beat them when we played them at home a couple of months ago. Even ignoring the off-field unpleasantness, they play exactly like the teams that beat us on a reasonably regular basis - tough, in your face, giving their opponents no time on the ball. From what I saw of the Lincoln-Ipswich replay, the Conference leaders would also cause us a few problems with their style of play. I'd fancy our chances against Sutton though!

I don't really care who we get next, as long as it's not at a ground where ticket availability is going to be an issue. But I certainly don't actively wish for an unglamorous tie against (in-form) lower-league opposition. Fulham away would be good...

So let's rate that draw:

Chance of being on TV - zero
Chance of progressing - very low
New ground - no
Nice place to visit - No
Distance from Cornwall - bloody miles
Chance of getting tickets - pretty high

See you at the Riverside!

Personally I don't mind it- they might be tying to stay in the Prem at that stage, if they lose a couple in the next few weeks. It also doesn't provide a huge distraction from the league; which surely has to be the priority.

Winnable? Possibly. That would be interesting.
