Contracts

Post by Jimski »

Is anyone (Mooro?) on top of the contract situation of our myriad players at the moment? I'm quite curious as to whose contracts run out at the end of this season...

OOC at end of season:
Meades, Skarz, Wright, Rose (club has 1 year option), Whing (club has 1 year option), Bevans, Ashdown, Collins, Crocombe (club has 2 year option), Long, Shama, Balmy, Humphreys, Hawtin, Hoskins (club has 1 year option), Stevens, Cavanagh

Loans returning to parent club:
Brindley, Baldock, Roofe, Vassell

In contract for next season:
Clarke, Mullins, Hoban, Hylton, MacDonald, Ruffels, O'Dowda, Ashby, Roberts, Dunkley, Campbell

I've only covered players with a squad number attributed to them.

Bit surprised to see Sam Long sign a new deal. When he had his chance at the start of the season following Ribiero's injury, he was found out a bit IIRC (apart from the first game where he had a worldy) which was why we brought in loan options.

Well he's only played two league games this season - Chesterfield when iirc he played very well, and Bristol Rovers where the whole team was rubbish and he was (slightly harshly) sent off. I thought he got injured soon after that, though the fact he played at the County Ground in the Trophy in October suggests otherwise?

Probably good to have Long as cover - he can play on either side and if I were AppIeton I'd be looking for two new fullbacks next season anyway. I don't particularly rate Skarz or Edwards even at this level. Both lack pace.

PS Is Ribeiro the new Capaldi?

Is this a sign that Marv will be leaving in the Summer, contract or not?:

It might be, but I can't see a strong connection.

It might be that MApp sees Johnson as the natural LB (and I would think Skarz's days are numbered).

In his post-match interview, MApp indicated he would like Martinez next season, and that Carroll's long-term destination was midfield. He also sounded positive about Ribeiro.

What do we think will happen with those ooc? I have little doubt that Maguire will hang about for as long as possible in the shop window, and it's anyone's guess whether a bigger / more northerly club will be tempted.

Loans: Raglan
McAleny
Edwards

Contracts expiring:
Sercombe
Dunkley.

My instinct would be to offer a deal to Raglan, and let the rest go. Thoughts?

I think we should certainly be thinking about offering a contract to Mcaleny. My suspicion is that he would be more likely to end up at a Championship level club though...
