1990s Caricature Challenge

Post by Dougie07 »

I found an annual from my childhood today which includes illustrations of various players from the 1996-97 Premiership season. It has some crackers of Dubes, Jim Smith and Jim Magilton.

I made a little quiz out of some of the stranger or more obscure illustrations in there and posted them here. There isn't a greater collection of football brains in Oxfordshire than the Rage Online football forum so I wanted to see if you could get all eight.

EDIT: You can't play if you follow me on Twitter before anybody pulls that one!

Go on then Dougie, put us out of our misery

#1 is Barry Venison and I think Carlton Palmer, one of the Steins, Steve Lomas?, Joey Barton and what looks like a Portuguese Freddie Mercury impersonator are in there, but feel free to fill in the gaps...

I have a problem with Newcastle and their fans with their ridiculously inflated view of their club's importance (possibly due to my father's constant niggling through my youth about how good they were and how rubbish Oxford were) ... but I thought the Phillipe Albert song was a piece of inspired terrace humour, something that's become sadly rare.

When doing a quiz, it's always a good idea to provide the answers and not forget about it, right?!

1) Barry Venison
2) Brian Laudrup
3) Fernando Couto
4) Efan Ekoku
5) Florin Răducioiu
6) Philippe Albert
7) Tony Yeboah
8) Jan Aage Fjortoft
