And our ref for the big derby will be:

I note he managed our game vs Wham. I missed that as I was on me holidays (getting text alerts while driving around Cape Cod) and our 0-0 vs Newcastle.

Good luck, folks, wherever and however you’re following matters tomorrow. I’m trying to be blasé about it, but I can’t fail to be excited by the chance for Oxford to get back up to Div 2, given our relatively modest crowds, ground and recent history. Whether I’d enjoy watching us play at such a level again remains to be seen, but I’d like to find out!

Oh balls. Tomorrow has become today, hasn’t it. Let’s hope when today’s tomorrow becomes today, I’ll not have a nervous smile on my face, but an actual one.

As well as a hangover.

Nerves starting to kick in now. Its annoying that I've got to spend the day trying to concentrate on work and zoom meetings rather than jumping on trains and pub-hopping round London with fellow yellows. It's the 'new normal' I guess. The idea of Championship football is a bit surreal too after our wilderness years, if I'm honest. Oh well, fingers crossed...

Squeaky bum time folks.

We are playing for the right to challenge for a place in top flight football.

This is massive.

I so wish I could be there. Its a huge shame that the fans cannot be there in person for a match of such importance.

The only time I've ever been this nervous for a football match was in preparation for the Conference play off final, which was arguably even more important than today's match. I cried like a baby at the final whistle of that game, such was the relief and emotion at regaining our Football League status.

Please God, I don't ask for much...

Indeed,
It's tough enough getting a team together to either get promotion or get into the play-offs each year, particularly when we lost three decent players being sold during the season. Who knows how next season in League 1 will pan out, but Portsmouth, Ipswich, Peterborough can all be expected to be up there, together with the three relegated teams. We would probably lose a couple of players like Dickie / Brannagan / Taylor too who may look for a switch to the Championship.
So any discussion of whether we are "ready" for the Championship - well cross that bridge if we get there.
It will be a tough match tonight, Wycombe have a game which works well for them and after all they were in the top 6 for most of the season which doesn't come down to luck.

Whatever happens tonight, it's been a wonderful - and somewhat unexpected - season. So many moments to savour: 10 goals in two games, for instance - four of them against West Ham, including a goal from Shandon that can only be described as utter filth; a great draw at St James' Park, followed by a replay at the Kas that Jim White, on Fighting Talk on Radio Five Live, described as his game of the season; giving Citeh a proper game (just look at Brighton on Saturday for an example of a Premier League side that didn't); the 88th minute winner at Shrewsbury (Josh Ruffels I love you) that bagged our place in the playoffs; CamBran's winning penalty last Monday.

A place in the Championship would undoubtedly be the icing on the cake, but irrespective of that, I'm extremely proud of the class of 2019/20.

Come on you Yellows!

Damn you all. I was feeling fine until I read this thread. It has been an incredible season, whatever happens. The clash of styles is so great:
https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/1857 ... off-final/

but the different approaches have got the two teams to the same Wembley final. In previous seasons I would always look for the team in the play-offs with end of season momentum, but for once that is not a factor. That makes this game so hard to call. Now going to try to distract myself with work for a few hours. Fat chance...

Never (NEVER) have I been as grateful for a busy work day, as I have been today. Somehow I've managed to get it all done, and I'm about to go and to do the same thing I did for the other two games in the Play Offs: go for a long walk before the game to try and take my mind off it again. And then open a beer. Or two. Or three.

Definitely three.

If we win, my cask strength Laphroaig will be jumping out of the bottle into my glass, insisting that we share the moment...

We will never have a better chance to reach the Championship. Wycombe are very good at what they do (ask Fleetwood) but, if we have Championship aspirations, we ought to beat them. Let's show we're able to impose our own game on to that of Wycombe and not let them dictate. Pretty please, don't concede too many cheap free kicks round our own box.

Not as good, but I’ve got a 12-year-old Knockando waiting for the nod. I’ll raise a glass to you, squire, if we get the result we all want...

Much banter between myself and younger brother (sadly a chairboy, as we moved to Bucks before he could learn the one true way)

Let's be thankful it's not a Tuesday!

All this talk of bottles seems rather apt. What a wasted opportunity. Can’t give Wycombe any credit - they did nothing at all after that early goal. How did we not score three or four tonight. Just bloody shoot when you’re clean through on goal! Gutted.

Oh BOLLOCKS.

Fair play to them had a game plan and stuck to it. BUT we dominated that only one team in it at 1.1 and we gifted them a goal even more so than the gift of the first one.

Thats why it's so frustrating we shot ourselves in the foot rather than played our hearts out and the better team won.

And why oh why did Henry not slot it in at the near post.

Gutted.
