I think Appleton had said earlier in the year that we needed some more experienced players in the squad. What we don't really know is how much the appointments are down to Pep, and how much the scouting and recruitment team. Obviously Ricardinho has played for Pep before, possibly Tiendalli from his time at Swansea?

Anyone wish to expand on the latest import?

van Kessel is big mates with Cuco Martina at Everton and Leandro Bacuna at Villa - both fellow
Curacaoan internationals.

Looks a decent deal on paper.

The U's bring in highly talented wide attacking midfielder Alex Mowatt on a season long deal from Barnsley.
Mowatt, 22 started his career at Leeds United where he won player of the year just two years ago.

Pep Clotet lifting the bar once again with his transfer dealings and knows Mowatt inside out from his time
at Elland Road as assistant manager.

And now Mousinho - captain of a Championship team! Glad we've got some defensive cover. Happy with today's dealings so far.

Vastly, experienced and uncompromising defender John Mousinho, 31 joins the U's
from Burton Albion where he was captain.

The big defender is known as a tough, fit competitor and has
played close to 400 games after first joining Brentford in 2005.
Mousinho has also played for Stevenage, Wycombe and Preston NE.

When you think of Graham Westley's superfit , well drilled unit at Stevenage
you think of Mousinho!

I think Mowatt is going to rip League One teams apart with ease. Great signing!

I am told by someone genuinely itk that Mowatt is a bit of a Dan Crowley - plenty of talent, but problems with discipline. Got himself sent off on his Barnsley debut, and none too popular in South Yorkshire.

Presumably Clotet thinks he can work with a player with whom he will have an existing relationship through Leeds.

United sign Albanian striker Agon Mehmeti, 27 on a one year contract.
Mehmeti has previously played for Malmo FF in Sweden, working with Pep Clotet
and has also had spells with Palermo (Sicily), Stabaek FC (Norway)
and Genclerbirligi SK (Turkey).

On the face of it we now have the right number of players with cover for all positions. Just two questions remaining; has Pep bought quality players and can he mould them into a team? My glass is more than half full but I will be very disappointed if we don't beat Gillingham tomorrow. I will be even more disappointed if we don't play better than we did against Shrewsbury.

Well that was a delight. Especially the second half. Gillingham couldn't cope with our movement. Nelson was my MOM for his first half performance which helped us keep a clean sheet.

The U's sign highly rated Reading FC defender Rob Dickie for an undisclosed fee.
Wokingham born Dickie, 21 joins on a contract until the end of the 2019-2020
season. Dickie had been on loan at League Two Lincoln City this season after
successful loan spells at Cheltenham Town where he won promotion back to the
FL with the Robins in 2016.

Looks a decent signing and back to the plan of taking a chance on young, upcoming players. Even if he doesn't go straight into the team he's got good experience at the right end of L2 this season to call upon.

I see we've extended Kelleher's stay at Solihull - I wonder whether that's his level or he's still one for the future? How long are the contracts of Raglan, Martin, Williamson and Mousinho? We're definitely not going to need all of them next season, even if Nelson buggers off somewhere else...
