there was a pointed comment by callum when he joined up with the ireland camp about everyone he played with other than keane being at premiership or championship clubs. I can well imagine he was told that if he wanted to break into the ireland team he needed to be playing at a higher level than league one.

i'm obviously disappointed he won't be playing for Us this season and his absence is going to be felt. but I don't blame him for being ambitious, and the financial realities meant I was more hopeful of hanging on to roofe for another season if we could persuade him to bide his time another year and see what happened. we were always going to get more money for o'dowda as we get the whole fee.

like others, I wonder if he might have made the jump just a bit early, but I guess we'll find out.
