Tonight

Post by Matt D »

we looked as vulnerable as we've ever done from set pieces and corners in the first leg against milwall. I really hope we've worked on this for this leg: I thought we were incredibly fortunate not to concede from one of those. dunkley to be given a start this evening?.. I think that's what I would do.

We made it but it was nerve wracking stuff!

United were by far the better footballing side with Millwall
mostly reduced to a direct game especially after Beevers was red carded
for hauling down Hylts. We should have displayed calmer heads in the final third
but we did open them up but missed some glorious chances to put it to bed.
Some fantastic defending from our back four with young Kenny excelling
in his first full start. He battled and tackled as if his life depended on it.

Great night and can't wait to sample the U's at Wembley for the third time.
Hoping to make a real day of it and would look at a corporate package via the club
for this i.e champagne breakfast, luxury coach travel, best seats in the house
bit of food etc. etc.

2010 was not that type of occasion until the final whistle blew as the prize of
returning to the FL was massive and that was all that mattered.
WE can all enjoy this one and have a top day out.

Agree pretty much with OUFC4eva. All I would say with Kenny is that he did give the ball away a bit too often. He's much more in the Skarz style of full back than the Baldock style of wing back. But I don't mean to be critical as the team were up against a big physical side of gnarled old long ballers.

Can we concentrate on the league now please.

Yes, I've always been a massive fan of the JPT

As OUFC4eva says it will be nice to just enjoy Wembley. The first time I was only 12, and although I loved it at the time I can't really remember that much about it. The second time was too important and all passed by in a bit of a blur (which might also have something to do with the late kick-off and all day nerve-calming drinking). This time it's a chance to take the whole family, revel in the surroundings and not really care at all whether we win or lose. I really hope Barnsley get through and bring a few fans down - Fleetwood only took 6,000 to the play-off final the other year.
